This is the kind of beer I really like. It’s dark, roasted, and smokey. I’ve had smokier beers, but this beer is nice and smokey like a nice piece of smoked meat. The brewery uses alder to smoke the malt. Smoking malt adds the smoke flavor before the beer is brewed. Alder is normally used to smoked fish. I’m sure this beer would be great with smoked fish. The smoke flavor will saturate your tongue to make other food and drinks taste smokey. I just wish I had easy access to this beer near my home.
