I went to Cincy Winter Beerfest.
Cincy winter beer fest has become the 5th largest beer fest in the U.S. 400 plus beers, it made choosing that to use my tickets for was tricky. I hope to attend future Cincy Beer Fest.
I got an early admission ticket, so for $55 I got a beer sample cup, 25 beer tickets and ability to get into the event an hour before the regular admission.
I checked into the event early. I got my wristband and meet up with friends at a local bar nearby. Checking in early was very nice. As the general public was lining up out the door, I was able to walk right into the even and grab a beer. No one was short on the pours either. All of the samples were full. My favorite beer at Cincy Beerfest hands down was Jackie-O Barrel Aged Dark Apparition. The beer went fast. There was many beers I had never had before, all samples I had where great.
I did have fun meeting new people, catching up with old friends. I sampled many great beers I might not get a chance to try otherwise.
I don’t know who the band was, but they sounded good. They mostly played older rock hits from Van Halen and Bon Jovi.
Going to beer fest, I used a taxi alternative services for the first time. Going to the even I used Lyft. I downloaded the app, you put in where you are at and a drive comes and picks you up. The first driver I tried to get actually called me and refused to come pick me up because he said I was too far away.
Then leaving beer fest I used the bigger taxi alternative Uber. I mention both of these services because I wanted to pass along something I learned and didn’t know. When you are at a big event and use Uber they can charge premium rates for picking you up. I didn’t know this, the ride home cost a little more than planned due to a surcharge. Uber didn’t save me much if anything over a cab. I called a cab first when I saw the higher rate. The taxi service said they will be right there. I saw the taxi go by a few minutes later and not even stop. When leaving an event, the premium cost goes down 20 minutes or so after the event. I got a ride at less of a higher rate.
Something else the Uber driver told me I thought was a gross but humorous story. If you puke in an Uber car you get penalized $200. The Uber driver said the lady in the car before me said she was going to get sick, instead of puking in the Uber car she puked in her purse. She didn’t get the $200 penalty, but I’m sure she needs a new purse.
