Bulk grain and glassware

I’m going to tell you honestly.  I’ve looked and looked online.  If you’re going to get into bulk grain, bulk hops or even for glassware like bottles and fermenters.  The best place to buy them is at your local homebrew shop.  Shipping cost are so high, heavy items like this are best bought locally.  Once Northern Brewer had a flat rate shipping on everything and I got a bag of grain delivered for 6.99 or whatever they charge.  This was a one time thing and I got lucky getting that cheap of shipping.

I’m very lucky in the fact 3 great local homebrew shops are within an hour drive of my house.

Wasatch Polygamy Porter

I think this is a great beer.  I wish they sold it out east.  Whenever I travel out west, my first 2 things I look for In-N-out burgers and Polygamy porter.

The beer is smooth and easy to drink.  I like the softness of the flavor, it’s not aggressive of a beer at all.  It pours dark with plenty of foam.  I think it might even be the beer to convert light beer drinkers over to the dark side.

Water Filter

Having fresh clean water will help make great beer.  I had to filter the local water because it seemed so chlorinated.  The bad water ruined a good light lager I made a few years ago.

Brew your own Magazine had a great article on making your own water filter:

BYO Water Filter

The only trouble I had is finding the water filter.  I spent a long time walking around a big box store and couldn’t find it.  Let me save you some time. is a life saver.  They have the water filter you are looking for
