Beer can make your dinner even better.  Not all beer and food dishes work.  After reading The Brewmaster’s Table: Discovering the Pleasures of Real Beer with Real Food
by Garret Oliver I discovered many new beer and food pairings that are great.

 

Everyone knows what burgers and beer go great together.  What burger toppings you use matter on what beer works with the burger.

Recently, my brother and I were eating burgers. I got a jalapeno burger with smokey Gouda cheese.  I ordered an IPA.  It’s weird how the spicy. Smokiness of the burger blended with the bitterness of the beer.  The beer didn’t seem as bitter and the burger didn’t seem as spicy.  The flavors blended and neutralized each other, but not in a bad way.  I thought the IPA seemed more biscuits or bread like, and the burger still had pepper flavor with lots of meatiness from the burger patty.From Garret Oliver’s book, I discovered many beer and food pairings I wouldn’t have discovered on my own, but this book made me go off and try my own combinations.
